Musicology Sessions brings two intimate concert evenings to BitefArtCafe on March 8 and March 13, featuring acoustic sound and family musical stories passed down through generations, stories that have shaped the upbringing and musical journeys of two remarkable families.
The evening will be dedicated to Senka Veletanlić, a true lady of the Yugoslav jazz and evergreen scene. Marta and Vasil bring to the stage everything that was entrusted to them, a legacy, a gift, and a deep, unwavering love for music.
Joining them on stage as special vocal guests will be Ljubomir Milanović and Viktor Tumbas.
This special concert will revive the spirit of an era while celebrating the timeless voice of Senka. The repertoire will include songs by Zafir and Senka, Vasilisa, Bisera, grandfather Vasil, and all those who wove sound and emotion into the lives of generations.
It will be an evening of family stories told through songs, memories, and melodies that shaped the artistic identities and upbringing of both Marta and Vasil. At the same time, it is a tribute to music that lives through generations, music without borders, filled with the warmth of family woven into every note.

We spoke with Marta and Vasil ahead of this concert:
- Are there family musical stories the audience might not know, anecdotes from home, travels, rehearsals? Can you share one?
There are truly many. One particularly sweet story comes from when Marta was little. Every visit to Senka and Zafir had to end with her “performance” in their living room.
Senka would take on the role of host or announcer and would introduce Marta, always with a brand-new artistic name invented on the spot. Marta would patiently wait behind the balcony curtain, and when Senka finished the spectacular introduction, Marta would proudly come out and perform whatever was current at the time, singing, dancing, playing the piano. The rest of the family would listen carefully and reward her performance with applause. - Do you feel responsibility or privilege when reinterpreting the repertoire of Senka, Bisera, Vasilisa and Zafir?
We feel both. Performing the repertoire of our family is a great honor, but also a demanding task. Besides being masters of their craft, each of them left a very distinctive mark on our musical scene. - How do you choose the repertoire when it comes to family musical history?
It’s extremely difficult to select and present the enormous body of work created by our closest family members in just one concert. In fact, it’s impossible. So we tried to choose the songs we personally love the most, and those that can naturally be performed in the voice-and-piano format. - How meaningful is it for you that multiple generations share the stage?
On stage there will be two generations, and they have a wonderful dialogue both on stage and beyond it. - What would you like the audience to take home with them after this evening?
We will do our best to convey the emotions and messages carried by our family’s music. The best answer would be to ask the audience after the concert whether we succeeded.
Be part of this unique concert experience where audience and music meet face to face, through stories that stay with you and songs that endure.
